At the heart of the North East Navigations, we are situated within the historic Stainforth Basin, on the Keadby & Stainforth Canal. The Stainforth Basin was where the canal terminated prior to penning onto the river Don which was navigable and joining downstream with the River Ouse. Since the canal was continued to Keadby - and being renamed the Stainforth & Keadby Canal-the lock is no longer in use and the river Don at that point is no longer navigable.)
We are within easy reach of the River Trent, the South Yorkshire Navigations, Sheffield, Wakefield, Huddersfield Narrow and Leeds & Liverpool canals as well as Hull and York.
You can enjoy non-tidal cruising or venture onto the tidal reaches. Just a half hour cruising east along the canal will take you to Thorne, while a half hour west, takes you to Bramwith Lock and out to the New Junction Canal. Either way, you may well be escorted for a time by our resident kingfisher. The market town of Doncaster is a leisurly four hour cruise or for the more adventuous, after navigating the lock and swingbridges along the New Junction Canal you will reach the Aire & Caulder navigation.
A Management Committee oversees the administration of the club which includes security, social events, grounds maintenance and mooring facilities.
